Kettlethorpe 42 Batley Victoria 20 21st October 2006Batley started well with two unconverted tries and had the hosts on the back foot for at least the first 20 minutes. Ketty got their first score from a scrum with Ben Rowntree going through under the sticks, his brother Adam adding the extras. Stuart Thorpe then got the next going through a gap from a Stu Turton ball of wide. Chris Gill then went over from a quick play of the ball to get a try in the corner, Rowntree added the extras to the further two tries to take a lead at half time. Kettlethorpe came out with intent after the break and never really let up with their pressure on Batley. Simon Thorpe soon went over in the left corner for a score and Stu Turton again put Stu Thorpe through to get this second. Craig Derrick was the next to go over with a great run from dummy half to force his was over. Attacking play down the left from Ketty soon created further tries, one for Simon Thorpe to get his second and one for Jarrod Hird both going over in the same corner. Man of the match went to Stuart Thorpe followed by Chris Gill and Simon Thorpe.

Wakefield Plasterers Cup 28th OctoberWakefield City 12 Kettlethorpe 38 The visitor’s first score came from a well worked move off the back of a scrum ending in Chris Gill going over. Further first half tries came from Ste Cardall going in under the sticks and Martin Hartley forcing his way over in the corner. Adam Rowntree added a conversion in the first half to take a lead of 6-14 at half time. Kettlethorpe upped the tempo after the break and were soon rewarded with a Jarrod Hurd try in the corner. Ste Cardall made a break and swiftly set up Gill who was supporting on the inside to get his second. Quick play set up the next, again Cardall the provider to Stuart Thorpe to get a try. Again from a scrum created the final score for Kettlethorpe, this time a long kick down field being chased by Gill who touched down to complete his hat-trick. Stu Turton added 4 goals in the second half. Man of the match went to Jarrod Hurd closely followed by Chris Gill and Martin Hartley.

Batley Boys 16 Kettlethorpe 18 4th November 2006Batley were first to open the scoring with 2 tries but failed to add any extras. Kettlethorpe replied with a well worked try down the left, Simon Thorpe forcing his way over with Stu Turton adding the conversion. Batley then added to their tally with a further penalty goal and a converted try. Craig Derrick narrowed Batley’s lead just before the break forcing his way over under the sticks with Turton adding again. Kettlethorpe kept up a good defence throughout the second half with standing some good pressure from the hosts and preventing any further scores. Ketty took the lead midway through the half with a converted try, Stuart Thorpe setting up Ben Rowntree to go in at the corner with Turton adding again from the touch line. Ketty kept up their pressure but failed to capitalise with some good home defence. Man of the match went to Craig Derrick followed by Mark Griffiths and Luke Minshall.

Kettlethorpe 40 Dewsbury Moor 0 11th November 2006A good passage of play from the start showed a good defence effort from both teams holding out scores from each other. Ketty were first to score with a short ball from Turton to Stuart Thorpe to go in at the corner. Jarrod Hird next went over for the home side Martin Hartley putting him through between the sticks. Ste Cardall hit a pass out wide for Thorpe to race down touchline to get his second under the posts to take a half time lead of 16-0. More attacking play from Ketty came after the break and in extremely windy conditions kept good possession and created good play. Hird soon went over for his second again provided with a superb ball from Hartley. Play on the right created the next score with good handling skills ending in winger Adam Rowntree over in the corner. Turton again set up Thorpe with a short ball through a gap to get his hat-trick. Thorpe again hit a gap through the Dewsbury defence this time Cardall putting him through for another score. Turton added the extras with 6 fro 7 attempts. Man of the match went to Stu Thorpe followed by Jarrod Hurd and Ste Cardall.
